Success Thought of the Day – 6/19/20

Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.  On this day in 1865, Union soldiers received news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free.

“Juneteenth is a day on which honor and respect is paid for the sufferings of slavery. It is a day on which we acknowledge the evils of slavery and its aftermath.  On Juneteenth we talk about our history and realize because of it, there will forever be a bond between us.” – Tom Feelings

Even more historic about today is the recognition of Juneteeth as a holiday by many employers.  Several have closed altogether or will be closing early, providing employees the opportunity to learn, reflect, and focus forward on collaborative action towards solving systemic racism.

Two resources I want to share with you.

*** PS on the picture.  Let all work to shift “compassionate” from being an adjective to a verb we all experience just a little bit more. ***
