GMA features James Rosseau Sr. To Celebrate CHH
The Gospel Music Association (GMA) recently interviewed James “Trig” Rosseau Sr., a pioneer in Christian Hip Hop, to celebrate the genre’s impact and legacy. Trig recounted his journey in Hip Hop, starting with Run DMC’s “Sucka MCs,” which inspired his early work as a rapper, DJ, and producer. His faith transformation in 1997 led him to align his music with his beliefs, culminating in the release of Project Omega (the EP) that year and the founding of Corelink Records in 2000. Over the years, Trig balanced his music career with senior corporate roles before committing fully to ministry and media, launching the Holy Culture Radio app in 2019, a SiriusXM channel in 2022, and Holy Culture Records in 2023.
Trig highlighted Hip Hop’s evolution from its foundational elements—DJing, MCing, breakdancing, and graffiti—to a comprehensive cultural movement influencing fashion, language, and daily life. He emphasized Christian Hip Hop’s unique role in sharing the Gospel, fostering community, and transforming lives. This genre has gained mainstream recognition through worship services, prominent events like FlavorFest and IndieTribe’s HolySmoke!, and features in media such as commercials, video games, and talk shows.
For newcomers, Trig recommends exploring Holy Culture Radio, its Spotify playlists, and genre-centric events. Resources like HolyCulture.net and Rapzilla.com also offer updates and insights. Christian Hip Hop continues to shape culture, providing messages of hope and healing while bridging faith and artistry.
