Listening, in and of itself, is a gift. - James Rosseau, Sr.

Success Thought of the Day – 5/3/21

When looking to be in service to others, remember that the simplest of things matter. Listening can be a powerful act of service, meeting someone’s need in a critical moment.

Like me, it can be difficult for problem-solvers to resist not jumping in to “fix it.” One tip I learned during executive coaching training a few years ago has been precious. W.A.I.T, an acronym that stands for WHY AM I TALKING. What I have learned most in utilizing this is that people often have the answers inside of them. However, what they need is “space.” Space to tell their story, emote and think.

If you want to serve someone today, give your ears to someone that needs them.

We can make ourselves miserable or we can make ourselves strong – the amount of work is the same. Carlos Castaneda

Energy is a precious resource. One that we expend even while at rest. Without it, nothing (e.g., our respiratory system, cell repair, etc.) goes into motion.
When we work, we elevate the expenditure of energy. Thus, we cannot afford to misdirect where we place our time and subsequently our energy.
Be intentional and know that it is “ok” to decide what works for you and what doesn’t.

Paychecks can’t buy passion. – Brad Federman

As an individual, find work that is so motivating and compelling that you would willingly pay someone to allow you to do it.

As a leader, create and repeatedly share a vision that inspires those aligned with that purpose to act.
