Wealth Mindset Series: 1. How To Activate Your Abundance Thinking In One Easy Step

Before we start today’s topic of abundance thinking, if this is your first time joining us for the Wealth Mindset Series, please go back and read the intro which will cover the goal of these articles as well as a bit of my background to help us get acquainted.

To set the table for todays mindset conversation we must start out by defining wealth.” To embark on a journey toward building wealth, its crucial to lay a solid foundation by first exploring the mindset concept.

To understand wealth, lets begin with some dictionary definitions:

  • An abundance of valuable possessions or money
  • The state of being rich; material prosperity
  • Plentiful supplies of a particular resource
  • A plentiful supply of a particular desirable thing

Now, reflect on your definition of wealth. Does it revolve around possessions, resources, relationships, money, or perhaps your time? Does it mean an abundance of knowledge or skill? Or do you consider wealth as being surrounded by all you desire personally and professionally? Regardless of your definition, making four key mindset shifts is essential to cultivating more of your desired wealth. These shifts, when embraced, can lay a solid foundation for cultivating a wealth-building mindset.

In the weeks that follow, well dive into four fundamental principles for cultivating the wealth-building mindset:

  • Abundance thinking
  • The power of delayed gratification
  • Goal setting
  • Continuous learning & personal growth

For today, however, lets tackle the first one.

Abundance Thinking

One of the most critical mindset shifts for cultivating wealth is the transition from scarcity thinking to abundance thinking. The law of polarity tells us that there is a positive for every negative. When cultivating a wealth mindset, you choose to seek abundance in every situation rather than focusing on scarcity. This shift in perspective opens up a world of possibilities. We become what we focus on. Whether it’s fear or hope, loss or gain, our approach can remain constant even as situations change.

I live by a quote:Life gives us opportunities but not guarantees.” Our words have immense power.

One mindset-shifting tip we’ve used in our home with our children is how they approach difficult or uncertain situations. The default response for most people is to say, I cant.”

The problem with this is that once you’ve spoken those words internally or aloud, you’ve cut off any possibilities to figure out a solution to the challenge.

Instead, we have taught our children to use the phrase How can I?”

This shift forces your mind to think of possibilities and solutions.

At the present moment, you might not know how you will overcome the challenge. However, the truth is you havent allowed yourself to use your brain to explore alternatives and solutions that might not have surfaced at the initial point of thought.

Our minds are the most powerful tool in the wealth-building journey. Be intentional about how and where you direct your focus and attention.

Embracing abundance thinking means looking at what you have and what you can achieve rather than what you lack. This perspective can transform your approach to wealth creation, enabling you to see opportunities where others see obstacles.

Now that our minds are expanded to think bigger, we can harness the power of delayed gratification and see how this further shapes our wealth-building mindset.
