How To Build A Wealth Mindset Series Starts NOW!

Wealth is a term we often use without fully understanding its depth and versatility.

For instance, “wealth” can have many meanings depending on who you’re talking to and the context of the conversation. This ambiguity is because our brains are wired and shaped psychologically based on our individual frames of reference.

In the following weeks we will journey through a series that will be a resource for your wealth-building journey, and the goal is to dive into specific strategies used by those who have created wealth.

Before we get there, though, let’s get introduced. Who am I, and what makes me qualified to speak to you about wealth?

My name is Damon Hurst, and I am a Certified Wealth Strategist with nearly 15 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Daily, my team and I serve as trusted partners to High Net Worth and Ultra High Net Worth individuals and families.

My relationships with these families are gratifying, and I’ve learned a lot. However, I don’t come from a wealthy family, nor was wealth ever a topic of discussion during family dinners. That said, I have amazing, hard-working parents who set the example for what having a strong work ethic looks like. My dad was an educator, and my mom was a nurse; both are very service-oriented. While I am grateful for the work ethic they taught me, reality hit hard once I left home.Damon Hurst

I quickly realized that becoming financially literate was necessary to create the life I wanted for myself and my future family. During my college years, I experienced wealth for the first time while attending a private university in Texas. You can imagine the look on my face when I saw students driving around campus with vehicles more expensive than the house I grew up in!

Curiosity took over, though, and I began asking questions to find out what their parents did for a living. The two common themes I kept running into were business and finance.

While I did not pursue either degree path in college, that experience stuck with me. I suddenly had a desire to understand how money truly works and how to create control of my financial destiny. Those themes resonated so profoundly that I made it my life mission to find the answers.

I would no longer allow the excuse of not coming from a wealthy family or not having the right connections or mentors to guide my path. I committed myself to figuring it out, no matter how long it took. Once I found the answers, I would share them with others who may be on a similar path or journey. Over the past 15 years, I’ve spent countless hours on personal development, increasing my financial knowledge with any resource I could access: courses, books, certifications, licenses, and applying all these elements into a financial practice to service thousands of families. As my financial knowledge grew, I started to understand that being in poverty and having a poverty mindset might appear the same but are different.

I’ve come across many middle and upper-middle-class individuals and families that would not meet the income definition of poverty. However, their mentality and relationship with money have led them to poor habits, which have caused their consumption (expenses) to exceed their production (income generation). This is how I learned that wealth must be created first in our minds and habits well before it shows in our bank accounts.

My story is a combination of life, work, and technical experience that has culminated into this series that I look forward to sharing with you. I don’t claim to have all the answers and have made mistakes along my own financial journey. Honestly, I may never fully know it all. However, I truly believe that it’s our obligation that once we know better, we should share our experiences with others so that they can also increase in knowledge and change the path they are on.

I hope you’ll find information throughout this series that you can apply and act on. The widely used statement “Knowledge is power” may be accurate, but it’s a half-truth. Knowledge is information that can be powerful once we fully understand how to apply it. So, I encourage you to keep an open mind and take this journey with us.

Let’s create change and impact together!
