On this episode of The Corelink Solution, I discuss a variety from the mental health of students to introducing a new voting show, and from sharing holiday help ideas to preparing for 2024, the episode was packed with insightful discussions and valuable takeaways.

The Mental Health Crisis Among Students

The episode kicked off with a sobering discussion about the mental health of students in 2021. The statistics are alarming: 42% of students reported feeling persistently sad or hopeless, 29% experienced poor mental health, 22% seriously considered attempting suicide, and 10% actually attempted suicide. These figures underscore the urgent need for mental health awareness and support, especially during the holiday season.

Giving Tuesday and the Power of Community

I took a moment to express my gratitude to those who contributed to Giving Tuesday, and to the artists and team members who support the show. It’s a reminder of the power of community and the difference we can make when we come together.

Introducing “Wait or Weight”

Next, I introduced a new voting show called “Wait or Weight”. This interactive segment allows listeners to vote on songs to be played on the radio. It’s a fun way for the audience to engage with the show and for artists to get their music heard.

Holiday Reading and a Book Recommendation

As we move into the holiday season, I asked listeners about their reading choices and recommended a book myself – “Gotta Be the Shoes” by Pastor Tommy “Urban D” Kyllonen. It’s always interesting to hear what others are reading and to share recommendations.

The Career Clinic: Preparing for 2024 with Lean Canvas

In the Career Clinic segment, I discussed the importance of preparing ideas for 2024 and introduced the Lean Canvas tool. This resource is invaluable for deconstructing ideas and planning for the future. I explained the different sections of the Lean Canvas and how it can be used effectively.

Addressing Mental Health Challenges During the Holidays

The episode also touched on the importance of addressing mental health challenges during the holiday season. I suggested ways to help others, such as setting up video chats with those who are alone, taking someone out to lunch, or surprising a family by dropping off dinner. I also encouraged listeners to go above and beyond when someone asks for a favor and to perform random acts of kindness.

Wrapping Up and Looking Ahead

As the episode concluded, I invited listeners to share their takeaways and encouraged them to ask questions or provide feedback through the show’s website or social media channels. It’s always rewarding to hear from listeners and to engage in meaningful conversations.

Thank you for tuning in and we’ll see you next episode!
