Episode 47: The Most Important Skill for Business with Wayne Baker
If someone told you they knew the most important skill necessary to achieve success, would you be intrigued? Sure, you would! So was I, particularly when I consider that over the years many of us have consciously or unconsciously digested many remedies, both in long-form and “hacks” (if you will) in the pursuit of success.
Through his research, Dr. Wayne Baker, professor of Business Administration at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, has honed on what he believes to be that most critical skill. During our discussion, he shares his discovery, research, and efforts more broadly and the path individuals and organizations can take to unlock that skill.
Dr. Wayne Baker is the Robert P. Thome (“toe-may”) Professor of Business Administration at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, and Faculty Director of the Center for Positive Organizations.
Dr. Baker is the author of All You Have to Do Is Ask (published January 2020) and five other books and scholarly articles.
Focused on social capital, social networks, generosity, and positive organizations, he has contributed to Harvard Business Review, Chief Executive Magazine, and Sloan Management Review. A frequent guest speaker and management consultant, Baker is a co-founder and board member of Give and Take Inc., developers of the Givitas platform based on principles in All You Have to Do Is Ask.
