Success Thought of the Day – 1/18/22

If you make listening and observation your occupation, you will gain much more than you can by talking. --Robert Baden-Powell

Years ago, one of my most significant leadership mistakes was over-relying on my playbook and not listening to my team and stakeholders.

I learned from that mistake as the time not invested upfront cost us even more time and rework later. Since then, I have made “listening tours” a part of my plan whenever starting a new role or major initiative.  That shift dramatically increased co-authoring, collaboration, and ultimately, my leadership impact.

I encourage you to make “listening” an intentional part of how you lead.
