When deciding to pursue my MBA years ago, several people advised me to skip it as I was already a senior vice president within a Fortune 100 company. Thankfully I was reminded of two things. First, education is one of the few things that cannot be taken from you. Second, it is a gift that keeps on giving.

Formality does not matter; focus on equipping yourself for service.
