Success Thought of the Day – 7/29/21

What would you attempt if you knew you could not fail? – Robert H. Schuller

As a natural introvert, I had a deep fear of public speaking for quite some time. At one point in my career, I had a manager who was good at it. She would often hold floor meetings with our teams, standing in front, sharing updates, etc. I used to think to myself, “I could never do that.”

During a visit from our senior executive, we planned to hold an all-hands meeting with everyone that she impacted, at least 150 or so folks. My manager was supposed to host the meeting and introduce her. She mysteriously felt sick that morning, and I was assigned to do the introduction. As you can imagine, I was not happy about this at all. However, I pushed through and did it. I felt a huge sense of accomplishment afterward, having pushed through that fear.

Several months later, my manager retired. She left me a gift, a desk ornament with the quote, “What would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?” I will forever be grateful to her.

Just ask yourself that question from time to time, “What would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?” and if that is not what you’re doing right now, challenge yourself to take the first step – DECIDE AND START.
