Share your stories now – do not wait until you reach the accomplishments you have planned ahead. Talk about the dash between “what was” and “what is.” What you have already done is instructive and helpful to many. Just share it.

As I countdown towards my fiftieth birthday, I have found this quote to be so befitting. We are blessed with faith, family, health, experiences, and much more. Considering where I began, I would have never expected it.

There are layers of cultural norms and expectations that become unconscious motivators and roadmaps for us.
Choose. Make it a priority to dig through those layers and unearth what you truly want.
If you’ve ever heard the expression “it got caught up in committee,” it couldn’t be more true than with your vision.
Experiment and collaborate, but don’t get stuck trying to validate. Don’t expect others to “amen” what they may not be able to comprehend.
The moments in leadership that I have most regretted were when I stood by when my gut told me that something was not right and I needed to act.
Conversely, the moments I am most proud of are those when I took risks. Going against the grain of popular opinion is not the goal; being true to yourself is the goal.
If you get the pennies right, you’ll get the nickels right. So goes the dimes, quarters, singles, fives, tens, the twenties, and more. It is a cumulative effect. Not just monetarily, but how you think about the value of the ingredients to building anything.
