If you struggle with identifying your passion, Anderson adds “When you’re more interested in what you’re doing than going out for a drink with friends, you’ve found your bliss.” I would have said it a bit differently, but that works too!
In the sales context or when trying to get a meeting, a “gatekeeper” is the person we view as keeping us from getting target (e.g. executive). However, let’s assume that he/she is operating with positive intent, ensuring the executive is as efficient and effective as possible, managing the calendar to priorities.Your task is simple. You need to convey that you ARE a priority because you will help that executive achieve their goals. Get the gatekeeper to understand and you may be on your way. During my career, I have made friends with many gatekeepers!
I find that keeping score can be easy, particularly if we let others build the scorecard. While defining success is harder it is also one of the most transformative parts of our journey. Don’t gloss over it nor accept contemporary definitions as your own without examination. Give your scorecard development the just time it deserves.

If anything, in today’s environment we are overloaded with information. Be mindful to alignment your path of discovery in alignment with your passion and purpose.
Enduring businesses, careers and relationships take time to build. Set your expectations accordingly and work to resist microwave-like approaches. If it happens faster than expected, count that as a blessing!
Pick your favorite hero. Ask him or her to share their greatest learnings and without a doubt, they will come from the times that things did not work as expected.
