Take a tip from the base stealers in baseball. Take a small head start towards the next base while securing what you consider to be a safe distance to your current base. Then, when you’re ready, make your move. Fear not!

Find the talent that fills gaps within the “team resume,” complimenting what you have today and creating a stronger tomorrow. Leaders can often neglect to create succession plans — which can be an act of omission or commission.

When managers are pressed to determine who are our best performers, we often ask ourselves this question. “If I could only take four people in a boat with me, who would I take?” We often choose those that consistently exceed our expectations, demonstrating that they understand what is important and that they care enough to deliver it.
Choose whether you want to be average or exceed!
Comfort and growth are often in conflict with each other for a period of time. Comfortable places are familiar, cozy and pleasing. Growth pushes you into the unknown, it can feel foreign and even agitating. However, on the other end of each growth cycle is a higher level of comfort. Get comfortable with discomfort.
Talking can happen in a sedentary position. To steer is to guide or control movement. For you to achieve your passion or purpose, there must be movement toward it. Plan without overthinking, get started and then steer.
Positions and titles allow you to create and enforce rules within an established structure or ecosystem, but they arguably do not establish you as a leader for the long-term. One of the best definitions of leadership I have seen is that leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal.
Lead now! If you see a need that resonates with your passion and purpose, don’t wait to be exalted into a position. Take the opportunity to frame the vision, create common goals and motivate people to action.
